Donaire vs Mathebula: One Big Title Bout

Following the phenomenal Pacquiao-Bradley fight is one of the most-awaited rumbles in the boxing scene between the top-five pound-for-pound fighter and four-division world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Jeffrey “Marvelous Mongoose” Mathebula.
A native of General Santos City, Donaire (28-1, 18 Kos) is regarded as a top-five pound-for-pound fighter. Donaire made a striking win over defending champion Vic Darchinyan (flyweight title) and Wladimir Sidorenko (former WBA bantamweight champion.) His most impressive victory took place last February 19, 2011 against WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel, claiming his third world title with a 2-round knockout and thus labeled as “2011 Knockout of the Year.” Donaire added more world titles as he triumphed from one bout to another, silencing his opponents with a terrible knock out. Some opponents of which are Omar Narvaez as he defended his World Bantamweight Championship and Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. via a split decision, winning the WBO 122-pound title.
Definitely a boxing pro to see and know about is Jeffrey “Marvelous Mongoose” Mathebula (26-3-2, 14 Kos) of Johannesburg, South Africa. He earned his IBF Junior Featherweight title as he defeated and dethroned Takalani Ndlovu on a heart-stopping bout, March 24. Among his dethroned opponents were Julio Zarate and Oscar Chauke. He was also an Olympian in 2000, building an outstanding amateur record of 101-4.
Promotions of the fight fared considerably high as people lay their cards. Donaire emerged as the favorite as he lands more explosive and dynamic punches compared to Mathebula. More is expected as Donaire climbs to 122, as opposed to his 112, 115, and 118.
Expectations rolled as the fight between two reigning world champions was set. Much is to be seen in the boxing ring on July 7 at The Home Depot Center with Nonito geared into showing out a crowd-pleasing fight.
